This client doesn’t have a website and has been putting it off, she says, for the last six months even though she knows she needs one. As an Insurance consultant she’s not so much interested in getting business off the internet, but she does want a website she can send people to for general information to save her time.

She also wants to have control over what people see if they search her name on the internet. Here’s a nice little test: search your name and/or company in Google or any major search engine. Do you like what comes up? If so, you’re good. If not, a website that you have control over is a great answer.

This site will be launching in the next week or so…..

Old Website

Alan’s Music Center has been around for a long time…since 1954. They sell and rent instruments, repair instruments, provide music lessons, sell sheet music and much more in the La Mesa / San Diego area.

Their website has been up for a long time and like a lot of websites it was adequate when it first launched. The internet, however, marches on at an alarming pace and what was adequate 10 years ago is not so today.

The new site will be an informational site only, but they still wanted the ability to list instruments and prices and they want to be able to blog regularly. WordPress, once again, is the perfect answer. The site was built quickly using Artisteer and then I added a page to handle photo gallery pictures which will be used as product pages for instruments.

The Development Site Ready for Content

I spent an hour with Alan’s Music Owners Jan, Alan and Bob showing them how to use the very intuitive WordPress administrative area. The site is basically complete, all that is left now is for Alan’s Music to add their content and when that’s complete, I’ll launch the site.

I purchased inexpensive, professional images for much of the site and Alan’s music will be able to obtain many more professional images from their suppliers.

The new website is clean and SEO ready with a full Content Management System. All this at a price they can easily live with.

Sweet!

ARTK12 is a website that features “Art History Curriculum Disguised as Fun.” The site sells books and projects. Site owner Kristin Draeger has had 4 other domain names for various other academic subjects that have been collecting dust for the last couple of years. Her plan for these domains is to list the books she has used while educating her son both for informational purposes for other homeschooling parents and also to make a little extra money through Amazon.com’s astore feature.

The Task

What we wanted to do was create, as quickly as possible, 4 related websites each of which would house a home page with the Amazon.com astore, a couple of other pages (about, contact, etc) and a blogging area. WordPress and Artisteer was the perfect solution.

By using Artisteer we created one template as our overall layout design. Then we tweaked each of these templates to match the theme color of the academic subject. WordPress is very versatile so I created a WordPress Template page for the astore as this needed a completely different layout.

The basic structure of these sites was completed in about a day. Once all the books are loaded into the astore via Amazon.com’s administrative area, the sites will be ready to go live.

This project went a little beyond the structure of One Day Websites, but the basic idea is still there: need a quality, quickly designed, inexpensive website? This is the ticket.

Check back in the next couple of weeks (when the sites go live) for links and images of the 4 new WordPress websites.
