With a few tweaks by me it can still  represent your brand AND be a great, top-notch, quality website: Search Engine Friendly, blog ready and able to handle as many pages as you need. Even if you don’t have a lot of money to spend, don’t sacrifice quality. Robert Berkstresser has been doing expert witness work for a few years, but needed a website: he needed it fast, he needed it to be inexpensive and he needed search engine friendly. I Want a Great USA Web Development Magazine Website

There’s no reason you can’t have more than one website on your domain. Maybe you have three related sites, maybe you just want to run some different sites for your family: reunions, new babies, family gossip….whatever. WordPress is can handle that fine and you can install multiple WordPress programs on one hosting account with many hosting companies.

In my own case, as a web developer, I am currently running three distinct websites on sweetthursdayweb.com that all relate to my business. The last my quest to motivate someone to create a great USA Web Development Magazine. My site: “I Want a Great USA Web Magazine” is hosted at http://usawebmagazine.sweetthursdayweb.com/. It’s also a WordPress website and I put it up in a couple of hours. It uses the WP twentyten theme. Search engines are already giving it some decent rankings…..though a new magazine would even be better……..

SweetBooks WordPress Website

You may think that because I’m a web developer and programmer that I have tons of money to spend on the design of my own websites. Yes, go ahead, think that. However, like many of you, this is not the case. I programmed SweetBooks to “Manage Your Business on Your Website” and now I’d like to start selling it to the public. But I don’t have a lot of extra cash floating around my house to pay for a customized design as much as I’d like to do that. I learned a long time ago that I’m a skilled programmer, not a designer (A man’s got to know his limitations!).

So I decided to find a premium WordPress template and then adapt it to my own needs. For SweetBooks I’m using the Genesis framework with their child theme: Delicious. I have modified it, changed some colors, added some buttons, etc., but their basic framework and design is there which not only saved me lots of money, but also lots of time. WordPress is great. I also needed a store. There’s an ecommerce plugin for that. And I wanted a forum. The same people who programmed WordPress have also programmed BBpress. This site goes beyond the scope of my $499.00 WordPress website, but using WordPress, the ecommerce plugin and BBpress allows me (and you if you want), to roll out a sophisticated web site in a reasonable amount of time for a reasonable amount of money.

The Old Morris & Giacinti Website

Morris & Giacinti LLP had a one page website that needed to be updated. Attorneys Suzanne and Nicole wanted something that they could update themselves, something they could blog with and something good for SEO (Search Engine Optimization). They didn’t have a lot of money to spend. WordPress was a perfect fit.

The Artisteer templates didn’t fit what they wanted, but they could not afford custom design and customized implementation of that design into WordPress.

The New Morris & Giacinti WordPress Website

One of the things that I love about WordPress is its versatility. While reading one of my trade magazines I came across a WordPress theme that I thought would work for Morris & Giacinti. There are literally thousands and thousands of WordPress themes out there. Some are free, some you have to pay for. This theme cost about a hundred dollars.

Once the theme was installed I tweaked it to Suzanne’s and Nicole’s specifications: added a new header with image logo searchable by search engines, new image heading on home page, dual sidebars (one for regular pages one for their blog) along with CSS changes throughout (this affects letter-spacing, font-colors, etc).

The result is a clean, professional looking website. WordPress comes through again.

Great Hands 4 U Old Website

David Neff is a massage therapist. He’s had his site, GreatHands4U.com for quite awhile. It was built with tables and the design of the site was outdated. However, like a lot of people in this economy David didn’t have a lot to spend. Once again Artisteer, WordPress and Sweet Thursday Web Development make the perfect solution.

David’s old design was revamped quickly and efficiently with Artisteer, but more important than that, the underlying code is suitable for search engines and if David wants to add his own pages or blog consistently, WordPress will automatically add the appropriate tags for search engines or if David wants he can add his own customized meta tags.

The site incorporates WordPress plugins for: SEO, Twitter, Google Sitemap, Spam and Forms. Another great site for a very reasonable price.

In addition to her educational sites, Kristin Draeger had the domain name: kristindraeger.com. She wanted to use this as a kind of portfolio site for her websites, books and anything else she may get her hands into in the future.

Kristin’s website, like all the sites here, including the one you are now on, was created with Artisteer, WordPress and my expertise when needed. Kristin wanted a basic site. This site is good for SEO with links to both her websites and books and pages about each. She has two more books that she plans to publish soon and these can easily be added to her books page.

Even though this is basic, it has, like all these sites WordPress sites I build, the capability to add as many pages as she needs and the ability to blog on a regular basis. And Basic SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is handled for you with the ability to take it to the next level if you want.

Working with Canopy Marketing Principal Kim Jones we modeled the site after a PDF marketing file. Within hours we had a working web site. While Kim added content, I made tweaks to the site: CSS changes to the overall layout and some very specific CSS for a home page image.

I also added a great SEO plugin, a tinymce plugin that enhances the WYSIWYG editor in WordPress and a spam plugin. In addition I changed a few formatting things that we decided we didn’t like in the Artisteer version.

With his new site Pastor Dave Rhone can blog, add as many pages as he wants, upload images, pdf files and generally create a presence on the web.

The four sites: SCIENCEK12, LITERATUREK12, MATHEMATICSK12 and HISTORYK12 all incorporate WordPress as a CMS (Content Management System). Each site has blogging capabilities and the ability to add as many pages as necessary. The home page was specially programmed to handle Amazon’s astore and each site is loaded with a SEO plugin.

These sites are a great example of customizing WordPress to do what you need. That’s where I come in. I’ll let you know what can be done, if there’s a plugin for it and/or how much time it will take me to implement your needs if WordPress can’t handle it out-of-the-box. Sweet!

Original Yahoo Site

ASAP Concrete Delivery is an independently owned and operated concrete delivery service. The task was to take their old site, redesign it and make it a WordPress site with a full CMS and blog.

The first thing we did was dump ASAP’s self-built Yahoo site. I moved the site to a new server and put up a very quick temporary site before proceeding.

The process for creating the design used Sweet Thursday’s  WordPress theme “Dark Two” as a starting point. This was then tweaked in Artisteer, uploaded to the site and then the theme files were further tweaked. Two plugins were added and activated: one for Search Engine Optimization and the other for a Contact form.

Once I had the site up and running I spoke with ASAP owner, Vince Badovinatz, on the phone. I gave him a quick run through on how to use WordPress and we also tweaked some things that he wanted changed. I also added a template page for an area of the site that needed some special coding.

Vince now has the ability to add as many new pages as he desires, upload images, blog about new jobs he’s on or has completed and if this design loses its appeal for him in the future, he can change it with the click of button. Sweet!
